- Summary
- The drug trade is seen through a blend of interrelated stories: a newly appointed US "Drug Czar," (Douglas) finds illegal drugs a much more complex problem than he had imagined; a Mexican policeman (Del Toro) finds himself and his partner caught in a web of corruption; a pair of DEA agents (Cheadle and Guzman) work undercover in a sordid and dangerous part of San Diego; a wealthy drug baron in suburban America is arrested and his unknowing and pampered wife (Zeta-Jones) takes over his business; and the drug czar must deal with his increasingly drug-addicted teenage daughter
